National Flag of Bangladesh

An Introduction can show a country by it's profile, its culture and also the origin of the country. National Flag is the symbolic for showing the country status.The country Bangladesh is independent since 16th December 1971. The national flag of the country officially adopted since 17th January 1972. Though during the liberation war of 1971 there was a flag including the country map inside the flag. For simply fly the flag, country map was deleted for making it easy accessible to all of the country residences.The designer of the national flag is Quamrul Hassan. The the design of the flag is the combination of Red Disc inside and also the center of the green field. The symbol Red is stands for the Sun Rising over the Bengal and the Blood of those who died for the Independence of Bangladesh. The symbol Green is also stands for the whole green land of the country. That means the whole land of the country is fertile. The proportion of red and green comprises 1:2 of the country. During the liberation period 1971 the initial version of the flag was hoisted at Dhaka University of the country on 2nd March 1971. At the very beginning the design of the flag was made by the student leader of Shawdhin Bangla Nucleus Painter Shib Narayan Das. Later on it was made by cloths and the first donor of that cloth was Bazlur Rahman Lasker owner of the Apollo Tailors at Dhaka New Market.

The national symbols of the country Bangladesh comprises Anthem, Document, emblem, Flag, Monument, Animal, Bird, Flower, Fruits and Sports.

(1) Anthem: The national Anthem of the country is Amar Shonar Bangala which is adopted in 1972 from the poem of Robindranath Tagore. Jatiyo sriti Soudho, Savar

(3) Monument: This monument is the symbolic of the country independence. Those who sacrifices themselves during the liberation war 1971 against Pakistan and the Pakistani rules. The location of the monument is at Savar which is only 35 km north-west corner of the capital city Dhaka of the country Bangladesh and the design of the monument was done by Syed Mainul Hossain.The monument is composed of 7 isosceles triangular pyramid shaped structures, with the middle one being the tallest. The highest point of the monument is 150 feet which is very peaceful side of the country as well. In the Bengali language it is call Jatiyo sriti Soudho.

(4) Animal: The national animal of the country is Tiger. This is called the Royal Bengal Tiger. The scientific name of this tiger is Panthera tigris tigris. The local name of tiger is Bhag and this is the subspecies and also available in the subcontinent of India.

(6) Flower: The national flower of the country is water Lily which is called Shapla in Bengali. There are 70 species of water lilies available in the world. The water lilies Nymphaeaceae lives in freshwater areas in temperate and also in the tropical climates around the world. Bangladesh environment is suitable for such kind of water lilies. This water lilies are also available in the all over the country and that is why this is called the national flower.

Jack fruit of Bangladesh
(7) Fruit: The Jack fruit is widely cultivated in the tropical regions of India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and Philippines and also in East Africa. The scientific name of this fruit is Artocarpus heterophyllus. In Bengali it is called Kathal and this is very tasty and also sweet. The Bengali communities also prefer to have it. This is the national fruit of the country.
